The Health Program at Amani Girls Organization (AGO) is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of young children from conception through adolescence, focusing on adolescent girls and young women up to 25 years old. AGO implements initiatives centered around Integrated Early Childhood Development (IECD), aligning with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The organization is committed to improving maternal health, intervening in the prevention, care, and treatment of diseases such as Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and other pandemics.
In addressing the holistic health of adolescent girls and young women, AGO places a significant emphasis on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights. Through strategic partnerships with health facilities in rural areas, AGO reinforces proven health intervention strategies. The organization implements integrated programs targeting HIV/AIDS and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). By expanding access to WASH for households affected by HIV/AIDS, AGO uses WASH as a non-stigmatizing entry point for community-based HIV prevention and support, including counseling, testing, treatment, and other biomedical prevention services.
The overarching goal of this program is to enhance the overall health and well-being of children from conception to young women within the regions of Mwanza, Simiyu, and Dodoma.
AGO employs a comprehensive (SS)3 approach to Early Childhood Development (ECD). Firstly, the ECD Service Supply/Delivery (SS) component mobilizes community efforts for responsive caregiving and early learning, aligning with the Nurturing Care Framework. Secondly, ECD System Strengthening (SS) focuses on a multisectoral response, ensuring child-friendly nurturing environments, systems, and structures while employing social accountability for quality ECD service provision. Thirdly, Socioeconomic Strengthening (SS) addresses the social and economic aspects of households and communities, fostering support for ECD service provision.
To achieve these objectives, AGO adopts various strategies, including Community Engagement, Adolescent Girls Empowerment on health issues, Behavior Change Communication and Campaigns, and strengthening community networks and health systems through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs). Through these approaches, AGO is committed to making a lasting impact on the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
